Rolling Eyes

I know the program this is from, I taped it several years ago, it clearly is NOT the Cevert crash at all, they simply show some grainy footage of a car spinning whilst talking about the Cevert crash. The Esses at Watkins Glen look nothing like that at all.

Sorry!

Unfortunately, this isnt Cevert. Norman is right, esses at Watkins Glen have barrierers which much closer to the track, Cevert didnt slide into any run off, he had no chance.

Hate it when old documentaries pu tfalse video in there, it is very close to the actual year, maybe even an earlier Cevert crash, but not the fatal crash that killed him at Watkins Glen.

I got reallllly excited for a moment though Smile

It happened something similar for Peter Collins fatal crash when an Italian program called Sfide shown a crash happening on Monza and claiming it was Collins fatal one..... The funny thing is that when people discovered wasnt Collins one made it wrong again supposing it was Michael May crashing at Solitude. In fact that footage was Gerry Ashmore crashing at Monza Parabolica in the first lap of the 1961 Italian Gp (yes the lap before Von Trips tragic accident).

I thought to see something new but it's not. First of all, the car spinning backwards is clearly not a 1973 Tyrell for 100% sure.
Also in that part were Cevert died there are no curb stones
As third, Cevert's car never went backwards but he crashed into the guardrail headon.

Because they just want add drama to the scene they are talking about, and know that the casual viewer won't realise that it's a different crash.

It happens a lot, it annoys me too!
