| It's in the works. Slowly the wheels turn. The rights have been succured. The format has been established--or so I understand. |

| Is it still going to be sold as one package instead of separate volumes that can be purchased independently? If so, what is the current prospective price tag for it? I need to know how much money to put aside before I burn everything on women and booze. |

| It's going to be sold volume by volume, as they are produced. It's supposed to get under way at any moment... |

In the meanwhile, what are the dimensions of the volumes? I'm looking for a suitable bookstand to go with them. This looks awesome for such a throw-away price:
I couldn't find a larger picture. But this is what I mean:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mighty-Bright-ReaderMate-Book-Holder/dp/B000GFEZAK/
It looks like it can hold even large cookbooks. I'm also open to other recommendations, if someone has a bookstand to recommend. |

| The books will be fairly normal in size. About the size of a small dictionary, last I heard.. |

| Thanks for the info, Paul. Sounds like I will be able to read them in my bed, half sitting, half lying on my back. That's good, since I just noticed Amazon.co.uk doesn't ship those bookstands to Finland (which still annoys me to no end: didn't we enter this increasingly totalitarian EU just to be able to more easily buy stuff from other countries? And I can't buy a bookstand from UK without travelling there? Insane.). |

| Ha! And now that the USA is going totalitarian, we'll just have to all move to Mars... |

To Mars? Perhaps as a stop on the way to further colonization of space. Vance would approve. Or we could dissolve all empires and get back to nation-states, which after all made democracy possible. Better yet, let's further increase decentralization and go back to city-states with only very loose federations to enhance commerce. But I doubt we are civilized enough for that yet. Better try the space alternative after all.
Anyway, perhaps too late for the occasion (and perhaps it's been mentioned before): I hope the text is laid out in columns, to make it easier to read. I have noticed when a page has very small type and long lines, with little space between the lines, my eyes will quickly tire and begin to stumble on wrong lines. |

| Great! Seriously, these volumes sound awesome. There should be fanfares and much promotion. |

Work is proceeding! Talk about it everywhere. The site is:
http://www.aftonhousebooks.com/
Though there is not much Compact Vance information yet available. I hope it will be coming up. |

As things stand the books will be eight inches wide by 10 high, with two columns of text. The type will be relatively small, but readable without a magnifying glass, unlike the Compact OED! There should be some sample pages from The Anome at the Afton House site soon.

| Thanks for the info. I've been waiting to get those Durdane books (I'm assuming the first volume contains them). |
